WhatsApp Top 30 Emojis Chrome Extension — Last updated: May 2026
What data we collect
This extension stores three pieces of data in your browser using chrome.storage.sync:
- Your custom emoji list (up to 30 emoji characters)
- Your chosen skin-tone preference (a number 0–5)
- Your last-selected tab index (a number 0–2)
This data is synced across your own Chrome browsers via Google's built-in Chrome Sync, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
What we do NOT collect
This extension does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information, message content, contact lists, browsing history, or usage analytics. No data is ever sent to any server operated by this extension's developer.
Host permission (web.whatsapp.com)
The extension runs only on https://web.whatsapp.com to inject a content script that replaces the emoji picker. It reads emoji image URLs already loaded by WhatsApp from WhatsApp's own CDN (static.whatsapp.net). It does not read messages, contacts, or any other WhatsApp data.
Remote code
The extension does not execute any remote code. All JavaScript is bundled inside the extension package. Emoji images are loaded directly from WhatsApp's CDN — no scripts are fetched or executed from any external source.
Data retention & deletion
Your preferences persist in Chrome Sync storage until you uninstall the extension or clear your Chrome sync data. You can export and delete your settings at any time using the "Backup & restore" section inside the extension popup.
